Time To Go In — Why Good Skin Begins In The Gut

Bacteria on your face? Not ideal. But, bacteria in your gut is — the good kind anyway.

I’m a firm believer that most of the skin ailments we suffer from (acne, eczema, dermatitis, rosacea) begins in the belly. Studies have been conducted and have proven where there is inflammation in the gut, there will be inflammation in the skin. You know that saying “ Everything you eat comes out of your pores”, well, it’s very much true. People with a healthier gut microbial have a better fatty acid outline which means their skin is extremely hydrated, moisturized and supple.

As an esthetician, I’ve pretty much seen it all. I can tell when my clients have cheat days and eat fried/greasy foods because their skin reveals everything. I’ve lived holistically for most of my life but I am still human, I have urges like everyone else but I don’t go crazy. To achieve beautiful, plush, vibrant skin, I recommend staying away from processed/ packet foods and adding some fermented probiotic foods instead. Sauerkraut, kombucha, and kimchi are probiotic powerhouses that will nourish the bacteria in your gut. Processed, sugary foods are inflammatory and like I stated previously, inflammation is the skin’s nemesis.

Another thing you may want to consider is getting tested for parasites. If you are prone to digestive issues or suffer from acne you can't seem to control, you might have parasites. Gross, I know but very much possible.
