A Powerful Pair: Spirulina + Raw Honey Mask

Spirulina is one of the most, if not THE BEST superfoods on this earth (next to its cute cousin Chlorella). It's a blue-green algae that grows in saltwater and freshwater environments with amazing skin (and body) health benefits.

Spirulina is a complete protein that's rich in iron, vitamins (A, B, C, E) and beta-carotene (an amazing skin-clearing agent). It’s known for healing and calming inflammation in the body (and skin), fighting free radicals and most importantly, it carries exceptional detoxification properties that are so essential for us these days due to the number of toxins we're being exposed to from our environment. *rolls eyes in fury*

This Spirulina + Honey Mask is a powerhouse duo suitable for ALL skin types, especially folks who suffer from acne, rosacea, and PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). As mentioned above Spirulina is QUEEN, providing the richest source of antioxidants to the skin while eliminating acne-causing bacteria. Adding raw honey will boost spirulina’s detoxifying, inflammation calming properties to make the mask most effective. This powerhouse pair will also increase skin’s metabolism to enable faster skin cell turnover and skin healing which will fade hyperpigmentation faster and prevent candida bacteria overgrowth.

What You’ll Need: 2 Measly Ingredients

       - 1 tablespoon of Raw Manuka Honey  (I prefer Manuka due to its high antibacterial properties but any raw honey will do)

       - 1 teaspoon of pure spirulina powder or you can crush up 3-4 tablets if a powder isn’t accessible

Instructions:

     - Mix ingredients into a smooth paste or desired consistency. Apply an even layer to freshly cleansed skin. Leave mask on for 15-20 minutes or until dry then rinse clean. Follow with desired moisturizer. For optimal results, repeat 2-3x a week.

++Remember, great skin begins in the gut. You can incorporate spirulina into your daily lifestyle by taking a supplement like me, adding spirulina powder to your smoothies, juices or even salad dressings. However you choose to do it, your body (and skin) will be happy you did.
